Happy bright playful child-like colors, again in an attempt to off-set the mood of the picture. The nuns are cute smiling and happy; this is my commentary on the face of some Christians. With their religion they are in a sense “killing” the other religion and in this case it would be Judaism which is represented by the Jewish boy. Though the crosses are painfully embedded into his back and he bleeds it doesn’t mean physical pain. This represents beliefs that are hurting his religious identity. In turn the nuns are obviously to the pain they are causing and are convinced they are doing good things. This painting also comments on Christianity’s domination over the religions.
